The Bennett School Project in Leominster, led by COGdesign and the Bennett School Beautification Committee, focused on revitalizing the exterior of the city’s oldest in-use school. Phase 1, completed in 2006, included the installation of brick pathways, granite steps, new lawns, and perennial flower beds, replacing old asphalt and dead trees. The community-driven effort raised $55,000 through grants, private donations, and fundraisers, creating a welcoming space for students, staff, and the surrounding neighborhood. Future phases aim to add play areas and an outdoor theater, enhancing the school’s role as a neighborhood asset.
