The Barnard Place Park in South Boston, developed in collaboration with COG designers Amanda Foran and Darrah Cole, transformed an abandoned parcel into a vibrant community green space. Driven by determined neighborhood leaders, the project overcame numerous challenges, including securing CPA funding, addressing city concerns, and creating a nonprofit to manage the process. Officially opened in May 2022, the park features native plantings, a bocce court, memorial benches, and accessible pathways, providing a welcoming environment for relaxation, play, and community gatherings. The park aims to enhance local well-being, foster community connections, and honor the neighborhood’s history. Design development was completed by Courtney Goode, Principal, Goode Landscape Studio, who led a design team through the construction of this project.
